FT AlphavilleWine Intelligence COO Richard Halstead was featured in an article in the Financial Times’ Alphaville, written by Janina Conboye, about how weather in the past year has affected the wine industry.
“No official figures are in yet, but Rabobank [Q4 wine report 2017] says estimates suggest Bordeaux — ‘one of the critical production regions of France’ — may have lost as much as 50 per cent of its crop. Together, France, Italy and Spain ‘will likely see production fall between 10 per cent and 20 per cent’, the report says.
Speaking to Richard Halstead, co-founder and chief operating officer of Wine Intelligence, which provides industry research, he says France, Italy and Spain really are the ‘engine room of wine production’, accounting for several million hectolitres.”
