Lower alcohol wine and preservative free wine have seen the largest rise in ranking since 2018 for wine drinkers in the UK. This is in line with more health-conscious individuals, who have a greater consideration for what they are consuming. This is in contrast to orange / skin contact wine which has seen the greatest fall in ranking since 2018, perhaps showing that it still remains a relatively niche category amongst consumers.

UK SOLA: Opportunities in sustainable, organic & lower alcohol wines 2019 includes an in-depth analysis of alternative wine categories at a country specific level, discussing the definitions and legislation surrounding each wine. The report uses the Wine Intelligence opportunity quantitative index, measuring consumer opportunity. It features case studies including alcohol moderation as well as cues and barriers to purchasing lower alcohol products in the UK market.
