The Global Compass 2023 report is designed to help wine businesses compare the opportunities offered by different wine consumption markets. This report serves as a reference guidebook which shows the top 50 most attractive wine markets globally. This ranking is based on socio-economic factors and wine market factors that are combined to deliver the weighted attractiveness model, providing a snapshot of the global wine market at this moment.
This year’s version of Global Compass, our 11th, innovates with two new measures. Reflecting an acknowledgment of the increasing significance of premiumisation in shaping wine market trends, a premiumisation factor has been included, considering both short-and long-term trends as well as forecast data. In addition, we have introduced a moderation factor. Following the growing importance of moderation as a consumer trend and associated risks for wine businesses, this measure analyses the evolution and projected trend of litres of pure alcohol (LPA) in each market.
