Following a period of sustained growth, Wine Intelligence is expanding their international network of offices and associates to include Spain. Headed up by Director of Spain and South America Juan Park, the Valladolid office is surrounded by some of Spain’s most noted winegrowing regions, and with easy links to Madrid, Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Galicia and Portugal.
The launch brings the number of international Wine Intelligence offices to 4, with associates operating in an additional 5 markets across the world. Their head office in London is supported by offices in Australia, France and now Spain, as well as a wider network of associates based in Brazil, Germany, Italy, South Africa and the US.
Juan Park will head up the new office in Valladolid, his childhood home. Following his MSc in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics, he joined the Wine Intelligence London office in January 2007. He now has over ten years’ experience in the international wine industry and is continuing his studies with a PhD at the University of Geisenheim, where he is investigating how branding operates in the wine category.
Wine Intelligence CEO Lulie Halstead commented: “Wine Intelligence is thrilled to be extending our presence into Spain this year, our 15th year of business. As one of Europe’s oldest wine producing countries with a great heritage of winemaking, Spain is a vitally important market. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to develop closer ties to our clients there, and to really get to grips with what is happening in the Spanish wine market.”
Director of Spain and South America Juan Park added: “Spanish wine has really upped a gear since the economic crisis, with indigenous varietals showing their strength and brands being more conscious of understanding their consumers. It is an exciting time to be there. Following the long-term decline in domestic consumption, producers are increasingly focusing on their key export markets. Now is the perfect time to come home to Valladolid and use Wine Intelligence insight and data to help our clients make smarter business decisions.”
